This summer I wanted to try a knit along with some of my knitting friends. I’ve never participated in a knit along before, let alone a mystery knit along! I can read patterns fairly well and feel confident that I can follow along not having seen the final result of the pattern. So when SweetGeorgia announced their Laurel Mists Mystery Knit Along for 2020, I decided to go for it!
I was able to convince a couple friends in my knitting group to knit along with me too! I bought a kit in Lumber Ridge, and am really happy with how pretty the colors are together. If you don’t want to buy a kit, I think two solid fingering weight yarns combined with a complementary variegated yarn would work really well also!
The first clue dropped today! Looking over the pattern gauge I know I’m going to have to drop a few needle sizes. Can’t wait to start working on this project! It’s always a good thing to learn something new. I tend to use projects to learn new techniques; it was a nice surprise to see something new to me in the first clue! I’ve never knit from a sock blank either!
I hope this project will be a fun distraction to finish out the summer, and I hope to have a great shawl to wear this fall! Have you participated in any mystery knit alongs before?
